WHAT IS A CONCUSSION?

A concussion is a traumatic common form of head injury that alters the way your brain functions. It's the acceleration and deceleration of the brain against the inside of the skull that can cause the brain to be irritated and interupt its function.

Concussions are common, particularly if you play a contact sport, such as football or hockey. However, every concussion injures your brain to some extent.

Concussions are usually not life-threatning but can cause serious symptoms that require medical treatment.
